Our first edition of the ‘Maker of the month’ series, May, brings a creator who utilises waste to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Using materials sourced from Scotland, each item offers transparency about what it was made out of, giving piece of mind to whomever owns one of their bags. This month’s maker is Lucia Gasparidesova, originally from Slovakia, Gasparidesova has been living in Aberdeen, Scotland for over 11 years. Their business Prolong, aims to bring bags made out of recycled materials that not only reduce clutter but are a sustainable purchase that will stand the test of time.
The Prolong website states: “This is a place the waste becomes a tool for a new evolved products. Overall vision is fuelled by curiosity, creativity and determination to solve the problems of climate change. Imagine there is a second life for all of your possessions and it’s up to you, if you will allow it to become a “second chapter” in somebody’s wardrobe rather than ending up at the landfill.”
